Development Eleven- Different Perspectives

To develop my project even further I decided to experiment with different perspectives of mental illness. So whereas I have mainly focused on the inner turmoil of someone who suffers from a mental illness, I haven't yet experimented with how someone with a mental illness may view the world around them. Therefore I have used landscape photography to capture my observings around me. I then experimented with placing myself in the landscape photography to capture the business of everything around me whilst I stayed completely still. This is to portray how someone who has a mental illness may feel isolated even in a busy environment.

This image portrays a street scene that has been blurred out. Buildings and a taxi are visible in the image however, it isn't clear whether or not people are walking around or not due to the unfocused image. The image is black and white creating a fair amount of contrast

I think this image has been successful in portraying another aspect to mental illness. Through the use of the unfocused image I have been able to portray another aspect to mental illness in which someone with a mental health condition may view the world around them.

This image portrays a young girl in the centre of the frame with multiple shadows of what is assumed to be people all around her. The image is black and white creating a fair amount of contrast between the subject who is wearing black and the background.

I think this image has been successful in portraying another aspect of mental illness from another point of view. I wanted to incorporate movement from two different aspects in this image and so as well as using a long shutter speed to capture my movement, the long shutter speed also caught the movement of the people around me. This created a busy photo, something I wanted to do to portray the isolation that someone with a mental illness can feel even in the busiest of situations. Its not just when they are on their own that someone with a mental health condition are battling with their inner demons, but it is all the time, no matter where they are and no matter what time of day.
